Re: Identities Sought

Hi Iain

The first edition of Bill Chorley's Bomber Command Losses 1941 has a Sgt. B.A.A. Fowler shot down with his crew. All reported POW.

Re: Assistance from Scotland Sought

Iain I had a few credits for the Scotlands People site which lists statutory records in Scotland so I have had a look to see if I could find anything re Sgt. George Nicolson. One of the problems with the name Nicolson is it is frequently interchangeable (particularly in the older records) with Nicho...

Unfortunately I cannot help with the original post but it is very heart warming to see John and K4KittyCrew back with us.

Alan

I can only see F/Sgt. Collar's citation as the award of the DFM and not as a Bar. If it was a Bar, would the LG not have recorded him a being DFM in the first place?

Re: 1344522 Sgt H.B Crawford 57 Squadron 1943-44

Hi Gary

This does not help your wartime query but Scotlands People has a Hugh Boyd Crawford death at Castle Douglas in 2000 aged 78. Castle Douglas is in the Kirkcudbright area so that is likely to be the HB Crawford of the logbook.

Ludford

His absence may also have been due to compassionate leave. As a matter of interest, do you know his first name and where did the logbook turn up?

Cheers

Re: Bomber Command Mining Areas

Steve There is a nice diagram of mining areas in Bryce Gomersall's book "The Stirling File". Iris seems to have been between Dunkirk and the Scheldt estuary. Whelks would look to be further up the coast at Ijmuiden. According to the sketch, the Le Havre area was Scallops. I cannot see Anem...
