Re: 149 Squadron Info wanted

Hi Hindenburg,
Can I ask what parts you have obtained? The Aircraft was carrying Ruperts, although some (12) SAS men were dropped in the same area on Titanic III. As far as I am aware there were no SOE-type 'packages' in the load.

Re: Stirling III LJ621 OJ-'M' - 149 Squadron - 6 June 1944

Thanks Bruno, Guess I will have to add this one to an impending research document. It was brought to my attention that, even from the 'Wellington' days, the 149 aircraft coded OJ-M had very bad luck. It was so bad that twice the code letter was unoficially banned. I am working on another at the mome...

Re: Stirling Mk.III BK776

Hi Edwin,

There is no Stirling BK776 mentioned in the Nachtjagd Diaries for 29/30 May 43. There is claims for other 75 Sqn aircraft, EF398 and EH881 on that night.

Hope this helps.

Re: Questions from a New Member ......

Reference the 'Special Duties' Ops that we can come across in Log Books and ORB's. Squadrons other than 138 and 161 were involved in these operations and I have frequently been frustrated by the dead end of, "Special Duty carried out." In my case , I extended the search to the Station ORBs...

Re: Stirling BF443

Hmm. That has the brain working! EMR ?? EM (whatever) is usually "Written Off" as in EFA, EFB but EMR is an oddball. I have seen it a few times, but usually followed by SOC, so whatever it was, it must have been serious?

Re: Belly Defence

Hi Steve,

There is a short but very good write up in Boyer's "Stirling Story", Appx 9, detailing the various fitting and who had them. If you need verbatim, give me a yell :)
