Re: Assistance please in researching

Hi Charles I didn't know that, I must buy a laptop! Would be better if they would load files onto your memory stick! What I find odd about the Kew set-up is that I have paid to have a document scanned but they haven't subsequently offered it for download on their site? Seems like a process doomed to...

Re: Assistance please in researching

Hi Go to Kew just for the experience, but you can learn what sorties he took from the ORBs and in what aircraft. For my paticular crew of interest their arrival on base was noted in the ORB so you may get some chronological data too. The ORBs were not filled out in exactly the same way on each squad...

Stirling N6012 Caualty Report Available

Hi All

I now have the casualty report for Stirling N6012. As I am researching this aircraft I'd love to hear from any relatives or ground crew, etc who have any connection with the crew, aircraft or Oakington at the time.

Cheers

Re: Happy New Year!

HI

Yes, Happy New Year to all. Still lots of things to find out, more dark corners to shine lights into.

I've finally finished refurbishing two houses so more time for hobbies I think - well until we buy the next one!

Cheers

Re: Stirling serial code needed

Hi I've just noticed that there were 21 paratroopers on board and not 9. I have another post on here that shows where the paratroops would have sat and where they stowed their gear. http://sas.raf38group.org/forum/viewtopic.php?f=7&t=2279&start=90 The Stirling could have carried 28 troops according ...

Re: Stirling serial code needed

He also gets a mention in the Summary of Events part of the ORB - an unhappy entry though. The entry for that day is long and detailed. A poetic snippet: "The coast was bathed in pale evening sunshine which enhanced the rich greens and yellows of the fields, and sombre grey of the old Norman Village...

Re: Stirling serial code needed

Here you go - from the ORB. The stirling squadron number was 5G apparently so you want 5G-H

I've downloaded the whole ORB for you - PM me with your email address for a copy.

The timing on the ORB shows that the Stirlings were taking off 30 seconds apart.

Re: Italeri Short Stirling

Hi Mark

I can't track down your aircraft serial or squadron marking? That doesn't mean anything of course, but neither have I found any Saint pics!
