Re: Photos and aircraft record Stirling LJ819

If you can message me your email, i will send you the 299sqdn ORB appendices for 5/6th June. Several pilots report seeing large red/orange explosion near drop zone. This may or may not have been LJ819 crashing, as there seems to have been a bit of flak judging by the damage to various aircraft in th...

Re: RAF Stranra'er: Feb 1944

The Bomber Command War diaries, which lists just about every operation flown by Bomber Command, has no reference of an actual attack on Ingoldstadt. The only reference in the diaries to the town is for the night of 12/13th October 1941 when the village of Lauingen was bombed, and the villagers thoug...

Re: Flight Sergeant James Albert Cannon - 90 Sqn ?

Paul,
Just for starters, his service number shows him enlisting in May 1940 at either Uxbridge, Penarth or Gloucester. I do have the 90sqdn ORB from 1937 to Dec 43, and a few odd months in 44 so will have a look through it over the next couple of days.

Regards...Alan.

Re: The sad demise of the forums

I wonder these days if one of the reasons is the prolific number of facebook pages which are dedicated to all types of aspects of Bomber Command etc, that make it easier to find information, i found myself drawn to several good ones in my efforts to answer requests on them, but lately have found som...
