I will say after my visit to the Great Dams two years ago it does mean more when you read the books . But I do agree whilst 617 SQN might have been the "Experts " in the dropping of the mines & tallboys Ect ,They are No different to any other bomber force which toke part in the air off...

I sadly never got to see any of it except write-ups ,but was the RAF March played ? That always brings a tear to my eye when played at Memorials . I used to tell the wife I had itchy eyes when played .She wont believe me anymore .

HI John,Thank-you for the link . I see that the BBC are trying to snubb the Bomber command memorial . The whole world appears to be interested in the memorial ,and yet the BBC are not interested .

The strangest story of a Ghost is that of the time when the Memorial to 617 SQN was built and the choir were due to have their photo taken ,but due to the bad weather they couldnt . Well after many days /months /years /centurys -well almost ! :D Ive found P/O Robert Ridleys Family RCAF . :D :D . It was after I contacted the Local newspaper for the area of Mississauga -Canada , They sent me a photo of Robert Ridley that was found in the Local "Toronto news " for May 44...

Thanks ever so much wayne !! . One comical story -well sort of ? The pathfinder SQNs were tasked to Light the way ,trouble was they dropped a flare it went into a farm ,and burnt the place down :oops:

Hi Wayne , I read one story in this book about how Lancasters were flying around Windmills That Low that the Dutch were looking "Down " at the crew . That is Very Low height . 166 SQN toke part in 35 operations flying in supplies to Rotterdam . I wish some-one could make a TV programme abo...
