Aircrew cadets
Hi chaps, One of my favourite WW2 RAF and commonwealth items I collect are period photographs. I have recently managed to get hold of a couple of photographs dated 1943 from no 8 ITW based in Newquay UK. Both of the photographs have been signed on the reverse by the subjects. Once I have deciphered ...

Re: Goodwin sands Do17 seabed salvage
It really is in astonishing condition having been submerged in salt water for 70 years! Sad to say that although hundreds of Stirlings and other allied aircraft must also lie at the bottom of the North Sea and Channel, I doubt whether any are so intact. Re: Goodwin sands Do17 seabed salvage
A plan to raise the only surviving World War II Dornier 17 bomber from the English Channel has run into difficulties due to bad weather. Experts salvaging the German aircraft, which is lying in 50ft of water at Goodwin Sands, off the Kent coast, have had to ditch their original strategy. A faster b...

Re: Bomber command memorial vandalised
Interesting read regards Global warming Richard. Climate change has become quite profitable for some :o Regarding the memorial vandalism, I found this quote from the Daily Mirror a revelation The Metropolitan Police said the incidents were being treated as criminal damage and called on anyone with i...

Re: Bomber command memorial vandalised
As the hunt for the sick thug who daubed the monument with the word “Islam” continued, curators of the £7.5million Portland stone edifice said they had been “deeply touched” by the public response. The RAF Benevolent Fund, the organisation charged with the upkeep of the memorial, are hopeful expert...
