Re: 218 Squadron Frederick Norton

I forgot to mention that the name Norton appears to be connected to a crew captained by a pilot called Hall. I have tried to check on the NA ORBs which is where I got this observation from but the name may obviously have no connection to Frederick Norton. Thanks again.

218 Squadron Frederick Norton

F/O F J NORTON escaped from Lancaster PD296 on 28 January 1945 to become a POW. He was the only survivor from that crew captained by Gilbert Evers. I think Norton was the second Navigator on the crew. I bought From St Vith to Victory to assist with my interest in Norton hoping he would pop up in res...

49 Squadron crew speculation for loss on the ground

It appears that speculation exists as to the fate of four crew member to F/Sgt Kirtons crew of 49 Squadron who were lost over MANNHEIM 5/6 September 1943. 'Beware of the Dog at War' the plotted history book of 49 Sqd eludes to the fact that having parachuted to safety the four men fell to hostile ac...

Re: Flight Engineer Station

James.
This last image is superb, one I have never seen and it provides great detail in respect of several areas of interest. Can I ask if you know any more information as to Squadron or identities. Thank you for your effort with my post, much appreciated.

Flight Engineer Station

Dear all I have a request in relation to finding any examples of internal images of the Stirling Flight Engineer station. Pino has kindly provided some small images showing the station but I very much would like an example with the Flight Engineer present. This is proving frustratingly difficult.......

Re: Early Flight Engineer Training

This is without doubt the knowledge base for the Short Sterling but we appear to be coming up short on Flight Engineer information. When brought into service the position of Flight Engineer was not policy nor structured in training. Has anyone evidence of what took place with engine minders or co op...
