Re: Flight Sergeant Robert Matthew Urwin. 7 Squadron
Hi Sorry for returning to this but I have another question I hope someone can help me with. I believe Robert had an accident in which he was injured after his last op and before his crews next one. That gives a window of 13th Sept-2nd Oct 1942. I have the ORB's but they only list operations. Is ther...

Re: Striling W7617
Hi John
Thanks for the reply. I have that info to hand already but the only conclusion I can make is that that Kamp was incorrect as to where the attack took place. If I had a copy of the combat report I can compare it to what I've been told previously and if that tallies then I'd know.
Regards
Paul

Striling W7617
hI Anybody know where or how I can get a combat report for the loss of this a'c. I have a conundrum about it. I'm led to believe that Hans-Karl kamp of 7/NJG4 shot it down over Montmirail, France, at 1928hrs on the 11th March 1943. I have been told that a German Radar crew witnessed the combat and t...

Re: Flight Sergeant Robert Matthew Urwin. 7 Squadron
Hi James have revisited the Ryton website. It says he survived a crash in England but recovered well from his injuries. The crash at Waterbeach says the F/E was injured and nobody else. I know that Robert flew a mission 2 weeks later. I'm beginning to think he crashed twice, the second time in Septe...

Re: Flight Sergeant Robert Matthew Urwin. 7 Squadron
Hi James I used the page you linked, all the info for all the crew is the same. To be fair earlier this week I tried to look up my grandfather but he isn't in their data base. Had I been able to look at what info there was before I paid my £9 fee I wouldn't have bothered. I am interested in the card...

Re: Flight Sergeant Robert Matthew Urwin. 7 Squadron
Hi James
His crew were posted missing 9th Nov 1942, that still means he was missing from that crew for 2 month and then a further 2 months before he reappears. I have tried the name method and found nothin yet, I will keep on looking,
Regards

Re: Flight Sergeant Robert Matthew Urwin. 7 Squadron
Hi JamesinNewcastle I have found that the crew suffered a crash at Waterbeach when they overshot the runway, even got the a/c serial and sqd codes. However, this was in July '42 and they went on to further ops. He disappears in Sept '42 and reappers in Jan '43 as part of Hamish Mahaddies crew. Not s...

Re: Flight Sergeant Robert Matthew Urwin. 7 Squadron
Hi JamesinNewcastle I have seen the records that the Great Grandaughter has and there isn't much though she did find out some other items she was unaware of. Nope to the crew, they all appear as a crew during this period and they all appear on ops, was thinking he may have been ill or injured but I ...

Flight Sergeant Robert Matthew Urwin. 7 Squadron
Hi Hope this is the right place to post a question. I am in contact with the Great Grandaughter of Robert Matthew Urwin and I have managed to find out quite a bit about him in an attemt to write a short history of his war record up to his death in March 1943, which I intend to give her as a present ...
