Re: 149 Squadron Photos & Details

There seems to be some incorrect details in the ORB, as it gives Mackett and Deadman being posted in from 214sqdn on 25th and 21st Jan 44 but, according to the 161sqdn ORB, Mackett flew his last op with them on 15th Feb 44. Also, there is no sign of F/Sgt Newton in the crew at 149sqdn at any time. M...

Re: 149 Squadron Photos & Details

Hubert Waugh,s service file states that he was with 161sqdn before 149, and 214sqdn before 161, so may be possible that the rest of the crew were as well. I have the 161sqdn ORB as well as the one for 149sqdn and will have a look through them for any op details.

Re: Blockbuster Active

Good story, although the Daily Mail has not done it's research very well, stating it to be the largest bomb dropped by the RAF, when it was reasonably small when compared to Grandslam at 22,000lbs.

Poppyman, Welcome to the forum, and hanks for the offer of posting the photo's from the album. The first one seems to have been takenbefore, or during training, as they are not wearing any aircrew brevets yet. The second appears to be of a Lanc crew, but with only six in the photo, the seventh may h...

A lucky crew, as they also had a combat a few nights earlier on the operation to Berlin, when they encountered a JU88.

Re: Looking for information on Stirling Aircraft & Crews ?

Jonathon, I do have the 161sqdn ORB, but not the other two, and would gladly sort out the pages that refer to ops carried out by the Eddy crew. The ORB only gives the pilots name for each op (unlike others, that give full crew details) and i will look through and sort out all relevent pages and get ...

Re: WE Stobbs

Guysan, Not all ORB's listed the postings in and out, but...if, he was posted in with his crew which is very likely, then according to the file of the Aussie in the crew, (410555 C.J. Moore ) it was on 1st July 43, from 1657 Conversion Unit. Before this, they were at 29 OTU, where they would have cr...
