Re: Short Stirling BF346 lost 28/29 April 1943
Hi Lyn You don't say why you are looking for these details, forums are stocked with people who are 'interested', you might get better responses if you interest them too, otherwise you are just asking people to do stuff for you for no return. You don't say if you have spoken/mailed Theo Boiten but he...

Re: Family Members sought
Hi Slightly off topic but The National Archives have loads of the forms on which liberated POWs gave a report of how they were treated and the conditions in the camp, etc. If they have your Grandfathers, he would have filled it out himself. Attached is an example - not a massive document, just a few...

Re: 4D Stirling - Under Construction
Hi Bruno Thanks for your comments. Unfortunately I am in the middle of house improvements at the moment so I can't upgrade the model as much as I want to. However I plan to do a good many videos in 360 VR - planned is a bombing run with search lights flak etc. as well as a daylight take-off. I suspe...

Re: 4D Stirling - Under Construction
Hi All I now have the ability to generate 360 spherical images such that you can sit in the aircraft and look around. Soon Virtual Reality and steroscopic files. Apologies the quality is not good - this is just a test to make sure I can go from model to web site. Do go full screen for best effect - ...

Re: Put Wood 'int 'Ole?
Hi All It's taken a while, and the sale on ebay of the door to the rear gunners area, but now I can answer my own question, though I could have guessed it previously anyway from existing film. OK so I contacted the guy selling the door and he gave me the rough dimensions for my model - the measureme...

Re: Matching Paint to an Object
Hi John/Bruno
Seems like everyone knew about paint matching except me! My Googling needs some refining I think!

Matching Paint to an Object
Hi All I don't know if this is useful or widely known about but as I am restoring some WW2 radio equipment I needed a paint that matched the original. You might want to match a paint for a modelling project. No suitable colour in the standard range nor in the RAL or other standard swatches and of co...

Hi
I'm always moved by the sight of memorials such as this. I often wonder if the crews would ever have imagined that people would remember them so affectionately and retell their individual stories.

Re: 4D Stirling - Under Construction
The ammunition feed to the rear turret was very long. You have to wonder how difficult it was to pull the bullets through. Also, rather oddly, it seems that the early MKIs had the feed system but the turret didn't use it rather it held the bullets internally as the front turret did. The attached mod...
