Re: Airfix Stirling Inspirational Build

It's very true there are rivet counters everywhere  having spent all my working life around aircraft, my pet hate is pre-shading of panel lines. In my humble opinion if you look at an aircraft in real life from a scale 100' away you won't see hardly anything except obvious areas of exhaust sta...

Re: Airfix Stirling Inspirational Build

Hi chaps, Just stumbled upon this part of the Forum  I have to say that, that is one cracking build. I don't know where the builder has got his info from but from what I know he's got it pretty much spot on! I have it on good authority (our drawings officer) that there are some dimensional err...

Re: The Stirling Aircraft Project

There are a few items scattered around, unfortunately no-one seems keen to part with them :( Thankfully however, most museums are fairly happy to let you have access to exhibits to measure them. The problem mainly occurs with private collectors who won't. I know of a private individual who has a sem...

Re: The Stirling Aircraft Project

Hi LW

I certainly recognise the label, they're fitted next to the ammunition boxes on the turret rings of the front and Mid upper turrets. the gouge in the metal shows that the gunner would've been very lucky indeed!

Thanks for showing them

Finding the correct items for a Stirling can be a bit of a minefield particularly instrument wise as there are so many variations on a theme. And the instruments are especially ...
