Hi all, my first post for a while.
I know of at least one Lancaster which had dual controls fitted in mid 1944. It was one of the dams Lancs, and logs confirm it was later used for dual practise.

Re: Schiffer Ltd
I know several who have written for Schiffer, and none have much good to say about them from an authors point of view. One gets less than a pound commission per £45.00 book.

Re: The " New Dambusters Film .
I've done some work on it, but considering Peter Jackson has been ill, and the fact that he's currently working on 'The Hobbit', I doubt it will hit screens within the next three years, and thats assuming he moves straight from Hobbit to the Dambusters.

Re: Rank
Sergeant wore three stripes (from early in the war the lowest rank of aircrew) while Flight Sergeants wore three stripes below a crown. South African Air Force had Air Sergeants and Flight Sergeants (to differenciate them from Army) which had three stripes and an eagle above, and three stripes with ...

Re: Dambusters and BC on TV
Unfortunately there is Alan, Europe being 'Region 2', Australia being 'Region 4' although you can find players and discs that are 'Region 0' which are basically universal.

Re: The " New Dambusters Film .
This report appeared elsewhere too which stated that no dog was in frame when the shot was taken but mysteriously appeared in the photo once developed, which is a bit fantastic. The photo of the choir is very very well known and numerous ones from different angles have appeared in the local and nati...

Re: K Type Dinghy
Richard I have to say, even though I have a chest type harness with the said D rings, I cant ever recall seeing a photo of an aircrewman wearing one with a dinghy pack, and I'd think most in bombers would use the larger multi-person type (the H, J and Q type dinghies). I'm not aware of them in wides...

Re: K Type Dinghy
The K Type dinghy was a single person type and was first introduced on New Years Day 1942. There were two versions, one in rubberised cotton and the other (the KS Type) in rubberised silk, which folded up better than the cotton type. First issues were basic, but a year after a mast and sail were inc...
