Re: Fortress III of 214 sqdn, 100 Group

.unlike David's who most assuredly will be going down Quite probably. For those of us who believe I will explain one of the myths about Heaven and Hell. If you think about it Hell would much appeal to the sinners - those who fornicate and imbibe the evil drink and generally behave in a disreputable...

Re: Fortress III of 214 sqdn, 100 Group

Thank you for those pictures David, I really must venture over your way to get the feel for these wildernesses. Anyway, some updates to the Fortress: Oh please don't - we have a enough of oiks in the holiday season. And if it is a wilderness you want try the Fens of Cambridgeshire or Lincolnshire ev...

Re: 214 Squadron Remembrance Ceremony - France - 25 May 2013

Very interesting and nice to hear. Well done M.Savary.

It would appear this Stirling was returning from Turin and was based at Chedburgh, Suffolk. A pity I am elsewhere otherwise I really would have liked to have made the trip!.

Re: Fortress III of 214 sqdn, 100 Group

Yes indeed old boy. Both within a short distance. Little Snoring is still intact in a small way and is used for private flying. The Hangers are still there as is the peri track and the remains of the watchtower. Massingham not so. http://i113.photobucket.com/albums/n237/miduppergunner/LtSnoring3_zps...

Re: Airfix Short Stirling with White Ensign P.E. sets.

I think "subtle" weathering is the right choice because a 1:72nd scale model is like viewing the origin from say 50 - 100 m and a lot of the "weathering detail" at that distance becomes rather vague. Added to which you have the downgrading by the "atmosphere". Still loo...

Re: Airfix Short Stirling with White Ensign P.E. sets.

The latest issue of Model Airplane International V8 issue 94 just fell on my door mat. Good oh! R.J.Caruana has done some profiles of the Short Stirling. What a disappointment to find that he portrays all variants with oil coolers under the nacelles which of course is nonsense. That arrangement is ...

Re: Airfix Short Stirling with White Ensign P.E. sets.

A most agreeable rendition old chap - in fact quite spiffing!! I do wish it were finished - it will really look good and I am becoming impatient!!

Re: Airfix Short Stirling with White Ensign P.E. sets.

I always think it rather brave of people to show close ups on these sites - magnifies detail and defects - but none apparent here old boy!! You are getting a good finish by all accounts and the cockpit detail is obviously more than a bit good!! About to commence finals now I assume?

Re: Fortress III of 214 sqdn, 100 Group

I think that when you have added a little more "rusting" they will look pretty good. Maybe a hint of "pink" as well perhaps? I assume (remembering your valid comments upon the "thickness" of certain renderings) you will be attending to the end of the "pipe" - ...
