Re: G-H Tail Fin Markings Images
460 Sqn, Binbrook in 1 Group. Each Group raised a Special Duties Flight during the Overlord period to provide Group-specific marking capability. Frequent targets laid on at short notice meant PFF couldn't cover everything. Richard Hi Richard, I seem to recall reading about the SDF work during the s...

Re: G-H Tail Fin Markings Images
460 squadron = 5 Group = not G-H. Perhaps another "conundrum" John: Special Duties? The Fortresses, Liberators, Mosquitoes etc of 100 Group were labelled as SD squadrons so I'm not sure what this caption is saying! Perhaps it was a visiting Lanc from 3 Group? Max Hi Max, These were not 3 ...

Re: 214 Squadron
Hi Max, Trust your well mate. Just re-reading my post and it is obvious I did not make a job of it, I blame the few pints of ESB I had for lunch. :? The period I am after is between December 1943 and March 1944 when the squadron was operational from Downham Market. Thanks for the offer Max. Steve

Re: A Short War
Cheers John,
I am indebted to Simon Hepworth, author of the two excellent books on 514 Squadron for his considerable help getting this project off the ground.
The title is very apt, given the type of aircraft and the squadrons brief existence.
Regards
Steve

A Short War
Gents, The book will be going off to the printers in the next few weeks, so this is my last chance to ask for help with any information, photographs, anecdotes on the crews or aircraft. To be honest I have struggled with this project, not only because so little is known about its exploits, it was on...
