Re: A Wrecked Stirling .............

Hi Bruno

Thanks for that! I'm interested in all photos of Stirlings in the batch that included N6012

Cheers

Notes by Sir Henry Tizard

Hi

Looks like the Stirling did have some good points! The photo is actually in focus, it's the typing that's fuzzy!

Re: Early Stirling Report

Here is the Mod for the Turret Rotation - Pity many of the Mod Sheets are missing. Your homework is to spot modified and unmodified fairings!

Will be posting more documents later Bruno, better on this site than in a dusty draw somewhere I think.

Re: Early Stirling Report

Hi I've clearly not read the first letter properly myself! It mentions spares for the rear ammunition turret feed arrangements. Now I had thought that the turret type fitted on the MkI did not have any 'servo feed' so the ammunition was stored in the turret. The note in the letter appears to be hint...

Re: Early Stirling Report

And here is the relevant modification sheet that implemented the change to the pipework - there are some more pages but pretty much more of the same! Nice to link documents I think, but note the difference in the dates which makes you wonder what 'Research Mods 3080' refers to, anyone know? James Sc...

Re: Flight Engineer Station

Hi Colin Sadly I am very bad at recording information about the images, mainly because I only need to see build details for my model. I would note that this must be a later Stirling as there is a bulkhead door between the nav and the engineer but that's about it. The pic you like isn't rare, I have ...

Re: Flight Engineer Station

Last and most uncomfortable position! You can just see the metal work of his seat in the foreground. I assume that he could only use this to view his controls as it was bolted down. Who knows how long he had to stand for.
