Re: Stamping out incendiaries?

Hi Dennis It had never occured to me that civilians might have attempted to stamp out an incendiary. I do remember my grandmother having a stirrup pump and her house was severely damaged during the blitz, being in East London. I also recall a science teacher at school showing us, how phosforous burn...

Re: Bomber Command wristbands

Hi Max what a brilliant idea, I wonder if the Schools might encourage the sale of the wrist bands ? Speaking recently to a 10 year old (Jack), I was pleasantly surprised to learn that the children at his school are being taught about the two wars. He was also very interested in the RAF as his great-...

Re: F/O J C Thompson, Bomber Aimer, Logbook - 630 Sqn

Hi John

Bruno has very kindly confirmed that W/Cdr J Grindon did take over 617 Sqn following Johnny Fauquier. His Obituary in the Telegraph is very interesting and I thank you for that.

With Kind Regards

Hi John

a very interesting logbook. Is W/C Grindon the C.O. who became the C.O. of 617 after Johnny Fauquier ?

Re: RAF Ration Tins

Hi John

'29 years of martial bliss', does this mean you are into 'Kung Foo'. You need to watch out if you visit Dennis by the way as he is an exponent of 'Typhoo', ..... Strawberries and Devon cream tea eh..........sounds like a bit of creep to me.

Re: 218 Squadron

Hi Earl My first port of call was the CWGC who are in Maidenhead. The first problem encountered being that they had no record of Sgt Denzy. I then tried Denzey and got a result. Was this a typo on your part or have the CWGC miss-spelt the surname ? The two a/c from the same base were returning from ...

Hi Alex

many thanks for that. I do have your excellent book but couldn't remember where I had seen a photo of Ian. Don't worry it's an age thing !

F/O Ian Ross RAAF 617 Sqn

Hi all, I am wondering if anyone might have a photo of Ian Ross and crew. Photos of Ian appear to be extremely rare ?
