Hi John, I have no problem with the 'JN' code. "C Flight" had been using it starting back with the Stirling's. Lancaster NE181 flew at least 104 ops with that code and nose art, so it's fitting it should be remembered for that, bringing the crews back safely each time. I do admit that the ...

Hi Ian, Just to add a little more about Sgt Bell, he and the crew were shot down on their 9th operation. He was rear gunner with Sgt Isherwood and crew, and on the return from Frankfurt 29/30 September 1941 had to bale out of Wellington R1177 and the aircraft crashed at Birds Green Farm, Silbe Hedin...
