Re: Glorious in Solitude 'Rear Gunners'

Thanks John. This is my dedication in the book: Glorious in Solitude is a tribute to the many thousands of ‘Air Gunners’ who served in isolated vulnerability within ‘Rear Gunner’ turrets during the Second World War. Amongst others, the hardships and bravery of fifteen individual Air Gunners’ is exam...

Re: Fred Panton RIP

I was very pleased to have found a photograph which the Brothers had no knowledge of and added to their museum. What they have built is truly fantastic, Fred has left behind a very special place and he will long be remembered. Thanks Fred.

Re: Can anyone help with aircrew details, pictures etc.

Hi you have the loss details and examining the Squadron records will reveal more about what they were doing but I suspect you are trying to do more about the men. Obviously the memorial plots them to an area a check of the census returns will give you some family details, not sure what else you coul...

Re: Stolen Medals

Sad news there is a BRITISH MEDAL FORUM on line which holds a wide selection of medal collectors and dealers who run a thread with reported stolen medals I suggest you post with full details including the numbering on the DFM medal. I hope this helps and good luck.

Re: Prisoner Of War Comforts 1939-1945

Taken from my book 'Unshackled Spirit' which explores the POW camps and their amazing story of purchasing a Spitfire whilst behind barbed wire in Germany the following statistics make an impressive statement of the support to allied airmen in the Stalag Luft camps. The War Prisoners Aid reported tha...
