Thanks Alan. Fascinating! One of several close encounters this crew had.

Re: So, what do you do with yours???
Yes - would be nice if you cold highlight a few - some biggies there - and the Heyford - is that the Matchbox one? Oh and my models are in boxes in the loft - the walls are occupied by pictures. Love Dartmoor by the way - but prefer Norfolk as there are fewer hills to get in the way of the scenery....

Re: Information wanted on 620 Squadron aircraft and crew.
Hi Bruno, thank you so much for this. It is a shame that the initials of the crew are not included, but I will be seeing Dad later on and he may be able to help tie them up. I have bitten the bullet and have ordered the ORB for both 620 and 299 squadrons from the National Archives. If nothing else i...

Boy Entrant; The recollections of a Royal Air Force "Brat" by Brian Carlin This is essential reading for all those who have served in the RAF. Although it is about the memories of a Boy Entrant at St. Athan in Wales, it brings back many happy memories of my own service in the RAF as an ap...

Hours and hours of work to build this...

No way Kerry!!!
We put down our roots here by the Tamar Valley and overlooking Dartmoor nearly thirty years ago, and here we will stay for so long as we are able! Why give up paradise?

I am part way through dusting the hundreds of aircraft that grace the ceilings and walls in my workshop. The product of many years of long cold winter evenings in the country... Can you spot the Stirling? How many types can you name? These three pictures show just some of the "wildlife nesting ...

MkIV Conversion glazing.
I am modelling a MkIV based on the wonderful old Airfix 72nd scale B1/III. Most of the MkIV Stirlings were conversions from the MkIII and had the faring removed and a circular plate riveted where the Mid Upper turret was. The MkIII had had the lower window on the sbd side of the nose omitted, and so...
