Re: 299 Squadron Stirling Build - Arnhem
Oh Boy, so much has happened in the last few years! Anyone who has followed my post will recall that my father was taken ill in 2012. Sadly his decline continued and he passed away on 15th December 2013. Unfortunately my wife also became ill in January of 2013 and she also passed away in December 20...

Re: New Italeri Stirling!
Ok, so it didn't arrive until today! Yes the panel lines look to be too deep, but it does come with a nice etched brass detail sheet, and hey, it's a Mk IV.... AT LAST! Now, I have to be good and leave it on the shelf until I have finished the house.

Re: New Italeri Stirling!
Just ordered my Italeri Stirling MkIV... No idea when I will get time to make it, but it should be arriving today! My otherAirfix Stirling conversion stalled when I was caring for my wife before she passed away last year. Plenty of time coming up during the long winter evenings ahead, so come Spring...

Re: Stirling Artifact Identification
Hi James, The remains of the pipe is steel so not flexible. If the numbers are indicating the fuel system it could be that the oval plate was bolted to a flat counterpart through the self-sealing rubber of the tank (I have seen this arrangement in other aircraft). The metal pipe would then have poss...

Re: Stirling Artifact Identification
Hi John. Could this second part be the oil feed union from the reservoirs? The chap I got it from had another identical one from the same aircraft. Are their any pictures that you know of that may illustrate it? I would imagine that the Sunderland would be identical and maybe even aircraft such as t...

Re: Stirling Artifact Identification
Thank you James, that is great information, especially with the picture! There are numbers on the possible engine part. I must have been blind not to have seen them this morning! I am lead to believe that this aircraft recovery may have been featured on a BBC documentary, does anyone know about it o...
