I'm not sure we can assume that he was even aircrew John, he could have fulfilled many ground crew roles at a training base. The enquirer would be far better writing to Cranwell for his father's records.

Re: Advice Please
Bill Chorley explained to me a few years ago how he discovered all the filing cabinets containing the loss cards almost forgotten and certainly unappreciated in their importance, in fact from memory I think he said they were scheduled for destruction. Thank God Bill rescued them, but I wonder whethe...

Re: A/Ldr Edward Corser DFC MiD RAAF - 460 RAAF Squadron
Thanks for the offer Steve, but it is outside my particular area of interest. The good point about getting it digitised of course is that the A9300 will be available worldwide to any researchers.

Re: A/Ldr Edward Corser DFC MiD RAAF - 460 RAAF Squadron
The key document that would reveal all Steve, the A9300 Personnel file hasn't been digitised yet by the NAA, though if you are willing to pay the $16 Australian, or thereabouts, you can have it done as you probably know. His A705, Casualty File is available online but obviuosly doesn't answer your q...

Re: Canadian Sojourn
Well done Kerry and Shell, 40 years eh? I can second Neale's recommendation about the CWHM, quite a way out of Toronto though.

Re: Sgt Kenneth Austen Thomas, pilot. Help please
This is "sloping shoulders" to a certain extent Simon, but if you join the RAF Commands forum (google it) you'll find some very knowledgeable and helpful researchers there who may be better placed to help you and who have archive material which may throw light on your query.

Re: Sgt Kenneth Austen Thomas, pilot. Help please
Ok Simon, that clears that up, entries in the LG would have covered DFC, DFM, DSO etc. but obviously not campaign medals. I'm wracking my brains to find a way of getting a start for you but nothing's coming to mind right now.

Re: Sgt Kenneth Austen Thomas, pilot. Help please
I'm afraid this is a negative reply Simon, but it helps to narrow your search slightly. I can tell you that he didn't fly with either 467 nor 463 squadrons, I've checked the list of pilots and crew for those two squadrons but no trace. Sadly there is no nominal roll of personnel for the RAF like the...

Re: ATS Lessons
Thanks Kerry, that makes sense now. Would the NAA at Canberra possibly have any files regarding training exercises?
