Re: Aircraft Identification Challenge No: 5
Thanks for that confirmatiuon, i have to say that i was convinced it was a Stirling from the start, but, thought it too close to home, which is why i went for the Sunderland. Wayne stuffed that one when i looked closer at the stubs, so the only other alternative was the "joker" in the pack...

Re: Aircraft Identification Challenge No: 5
I'm going to go for a Stirling, just because it may be a too obvious choice, not sure about a Halifax because of the lowish wing mounting. And definatley too low for a radial Lanc, yep!! Stirling.

Re: Aircraft Identification Challenge No: 5
I was going to fall into the trap!! in thinking it's the aircraft this site is dedicated to, only because of the intakes on top of the engines, but i'm going for a Sunderland, and if my eyes are not deceiving me, there may be a very faint coastline in the background

Re: Serial number
Hi Wayne, You threw me a little with the date, as no ops to Hamburg on that date in July, and i thought 75sqdn were well and truly a Lanc squadron by July 44, but there was on 24/25th July 43, so i had a look at the few pages from the ORB that i have, and for Sept 43, i have him on several ops, all ...

Re: 7 Squadron Jan - June 1942
Hello Mary, I cannot find anything for a Wellington crashing, or an airman called Duke, killed on that day, or for 7sqdn. But, on the 17th August 1943, a Wellington of 23 OTU crashed in the circumstances you mention, killing all on board, and one of them was Flying Officer A.T. Duke, RCAF, who was a...

John,
I knew this one straight away, as i have this picture in my files, so 100% on what it is, just to confirm that there is an "x" in the 2 o'clock position on the roundel,
