The ASF probably refering to assimilation flight. My log book shows AF. If that is the first entry in his log book at HCU, this will tend to confirm it. When our f/eng joined us at HCU he had already done some assimilation flying, in which case the ASF would be refering to te rest of tne crew. Denn...

Have a look on http://www.associations.rafinfo.org.uk/squadron.htm you never know some of those pilots might be alive and there may be photos.
