Re: Logbooks - When were they handed out?

Hi folks, Just a thought, being that I've had details of two logbooks shown to me recently, one from Kevin-'Chromeboy'.......... a logbook from 1661HCU and another from Ross, his fathers' logbook, when he was posted to 630 squadron. So my question is .............. Did all crews get a logbook at He...

Re: Airfix Lancaster Build

^^^^ re Klear - a real favourite of mine from my ACF days, my "bulling" was obviously immaculate anyway, but a wee bit of extra help never did any harm! ;)

Re: Airfix Lancaster Build

i've just gone through this thread from the beginning & have to say how very impressed i am with the result- the comments on having good preparation & taking time to think a few step ahead remind me of the adage "to fail to prepare is to prepare to fail". i remember my grandad had ...

Re: abbrev help from HCU entry

The ASF probably refering to assimilation flight. My log book shows AF. If that is the first entry in his log book at HCU, this will tend to confirm it. When our f/eng joined us at HCU he had already done some assimilation flying, in which case the ASF would be refering to te rest of tne crew. Denn...

Re: abbrev help from HCU entry

Cheers Wayne.

I should perhaps have mentioned he was a flight engineer, I don't know if that'll maybe give some clues

Re: Looking for information on Stirling Aircraft & Crews ?

Kevin have you tried the Associations for the Squadrons if they have one. Have a look on http://www.associations.rafinfo.org.uk/squadron.htm you never know some of those pilots might be alive and there may be photos. Might be worth also trying the Imperial War Museum and RAF Museum for photos. I kn...

Re: Looking for information on Stirling Aircraft & Crews ?

Hi Kevin and welcome to the Stirling forum. My father, Joe Pollard RAAF, also flew out of 1661 HCU and was posted to 630 sqn, early April 44. I don't have any actual details on the unit itself but would welcome information on your grand father in his time flying Stirlings. Regards, John Hi John, i'...

Re: Looking for information on Stirling Aircraft & Crews ?

Hi all, i've recently started doing some research into the service history of my late grandfather John Howard Crammond (1823396). I have his flying log book, and from this i can see he flew in Stirlings either side of his time in 44 (Rhodesia) Sqn where he was a flight engineer aboard Lancasters- th...
