Stirling update. LJ 477 was known as RED HOT MOMMA and had some nose art in the form of a Popsy I am assuming a lovely lady on the airframe.
Has anyone any memory of seeing any 149 Squadron aircraft with nose art, it would be fantastic to try and track down an image. Thanks for looking Colin.

Re: 149 Sqd Stirling crash Thorney Island
Alan & Steve. I have now received the RAAF A705 report. It is interesting but fails to provide any news of the crash other than I now know it burst into flames after having landed. It does plot the Hospitals but thats about it, that said I am very pleased to add the papers into my work on this c...

Re: RAFVR WW2 and beyond
Obviously Pilot Officer Rank will not indicate he was a 'Pilot'
His Officers service number does not allow any reference to enlisting unless you found it on the LG, I have great trouble searching on that myself !
Have you any other clues I am struggling to offer anything with this.
Colin.

Re: Gresse, Germany RAF Friendly fire incident
Ian. A snippit from my book 'Unshackled Spirit' based upon POW logs............ The march finally came to an end when the main element of the column encountered Allied forces east of Hamburg on May 2, 1945. They had covered more than 600 miles in 87 days. Of those who started on the march, many were...

Re: 149 Sqd Stirling crash Thorney Island
Alan & Steve. Thank you, I have found the Australian Reference and ordered the download as it is almost my only hope of anything. Looks like I will be lucky if I get much, however I will never know until I do. The RAF museum have searched for the accident card without any trace. Steve do you thi...

Alan.
Kind of you to post the ORB entry, it has prompted me to look into the fact that the Rear Gunner was a Canadian. It may just be possible that the RCAF records may help.
Thanks again. Colin.

Re: 149 Sqd Stirling crash Thorney Island
As an update on this matter. No information exists on the Thorney Island station records and the Aircraft Loss card for this Atirling no longer appears to be in existance. The powers above are thwarting my every move to try and find out anything on this aircraft or her demise. If she should pop up i...
