Re: A Varied Selection of Photos - Life on a Squadron

Some very interesting images, I picked up on the handing in of parachutes, I was of the opinion that they were not handed in after ever op, just on a regular basis for checking and re packing.

Thank you for posting.

Re: Bombing Image - Which Aircraft?

I think no doubt with that one not much comes close to the Stirling perspex configuration.

Re: Mystery Aircraft on D-Day

My only observation would be the apparent squarness of the wing adjacent to the fuselage sections. Very clever enlargement I am amazed at what people can do with photos!

Re: RAF Gun Turrets Collection

Some lovely pictures on this subject, from those who are clearly well versed on the subject can you advise if all spent shells and clips from the Brownings always tumbled out and presumably down the two chutes to fall to the ground. Re: AGLT

Steve.

I have seen but unable to now find a reference that less than a dozen aircraft were fitted with AGLT at the close of 1944. This appears to be rather low but could relate to one flight in a Squadron !

Re: Glider towing

Alan & Bruno. This is excellent and to see the image of the rope is superb, I also had wondered how the connection was made and I can see it was a form of clamp device. I suppose it was replicated at the other end exactly the same. The ropes were made in a factory close to where I live but has l...

Glider towing

Has anyone any information on the system used to communicate between the glider and tug pilots during WWII. I understand it was by a direct link but would like to know more should anyone know.

I look forward to hearing from you, thank you. Colin.
