Interesting photo John.
I was wondering why there are no "Ice Cream Cones" but, realized it wasn't built yet!
Sad to think that the poor kite didn't have many days left before heading off to the scrap heap?!
Cheers.

I Knew a New Zealand chap by the name of Keith Smith DFM who was a bomb aimer on this a/c, did over 30 ops with her....
Wonderful chap who told me stories of his time with 158SQN.
His whole crew was decorated, i have the full list somewhere,
I remounted his full size and miniature medals for him free of charge :)
( he was wearing them in the most untidy fashion )

Sadly Keith is no longer with us........RIP Keith Smith DFM.

Regards
Paul

Thanks Paul and welcome to the forum. Do know what happen to this gentleman's log book. If you were to obtain it, we would be grateful to have it listed here on the forum. I have helped a few members with copying them over to 'photobucket' ........... and I'm only too happy to help out, should you or any other member wishes to post a log book.

Here is one from our ( log book section ) that I've done ........... link viewtopic.php?f=11&t=737

Hello John and thank you for the welcome, pleased to post my line shoot(s) here! ;0)

My 35 sqdn friend , F/L Tom Lane DFC, did several ops to Milan and Turin in his trusty Mk.2 Halli.
Tom told me that the trip over the Alps was worse than the target defenses..........sometimes!
I had known that the ice cream cones represented Italian targets but, just recently found out why they used the cones, and not bombs.
Does anyone else here know why they used the ice cream cones?
Cheers.
