Wellington Bomber Pilot's Seat on E bay

Post by Nocturna mors »

An extremely rare opportunity to purchase an original WWII Vickers Wellington bomber pilot's seat.
Renowned as being the most comfortable of all pilot's seats of the war, this example is in incredible condition for its age with all its leather still present and the original framework unaltered.

The seat has been mounted on a contemporary stand, however the four bolts pass through the original seat fixing meaning no permanent alterations have been made. A seat cushion has been professionally made of antique green leather, shaped perfectly to slot into the void where the parachute seat pack would normally sit, making this a practical piece of furniture.
As no permanent alterations have been made, the seat can be returned to its original state within minutes.

Obvious service wear to the metalwork which can only be expected of a piece this age and this has not been touched up or restored, leaving the original wartime character. A few minor nicks, scuffs to the leatherwork but generally a stunning and imposing item.
It's impossible to say how many of these seats still exist. There are only two complete examples of the Wellington bomber that remain to my knowledge - both have seats in very poor states so it's possible that this is quite a unique example in its current condition.
Delivery possible within a reasonable distance.

Thanks Tom but have to admit that it is not a pinch on Johns' work regarding the Stirling seats!
Cheers,
