...is closed again. Larry needs TLC I guess. It would be good to get at least a temporary stay of execution - too much good info on there to just lose it.

Re: Lancaster Archive Forum...
Agreed, Richard, Nobody likes to see a valued forum and member base vanish.
It happen to me with all the work I put into the 630 Squadron Homepage and I can tell you that it hurts.
Anyway, Hopefully members continue to come over here. We cover all of Bomber Command and I hear 'the brass' are pretty easy going.
Cheers,
John

Re: Lancaster Archive Forum...
Just seen that the forum is down ... great shame ... I know a lot of members are members here and on other forums ... but as the LAF was the first I joined I hope that Larry can work out some sort of solution...

Agree all the above.

My understanding is that the moderator (who will be known to many on here) has had to step aside due to family illness and other commitments.

Re: Lancaster Archive Forum...
That is confirmed, Upkeep. The database will continue to operate whilst the forum ( at this point of time ) ......will not.
Hopefully, as many LAF members come over as possible.
As mentioned by many, we basically all know each other,
Bruno has created a great set up here, Although we specialise in Short Stirling aircraft, crews & squadrons, we DO cover all Bomber Command squadrons, groups, aircraft, crews, and Luftwaffe detail.
'Smudgersmith218' specialises in Stirling Squadrons & Groups plus 'write ups' for the 'Books & Memoriam' sections.
Alan W. caters for many squadron ORB's plus much more.
Bob W. is continuing to write up 'Losses' records of the RAF, RAAF, RNZAF, RCAF, along with other nationalities plus much more.
Max 'ME453' / 'Mozart' and 'Halifax' pop their heads in from time to time to cater for specific details, along with passing on the knowledge in the 'Modelling' section.
John L. keeps us up-to-date with the latest developments regarding the 'Stirling Project' ............. combined with 'Challenges' with a little help from Cliff.
'Denoline' ........ forum member who happens to be an ex crew member of Bomber Command, having flown in both Short Stirlings and Avro Lancasters is only too happy to pass on his knowledge
and thoroughly enjoys chatting with members and guests.
All in all, we have created a great base, a friendly forum where members, who have a wealth of knowledge, can interact with each other, along with new members and guest.

Very true, Lars ..................... where we may differ is that instead of the forum being owned / run by an individual. our site here is worked by a number of moderators and researchers so no one person has the onus of doing everything ( which is very draining to say the least.)Lars wrote:Sad to see the LAF Forum go, a lot of info and research posted by many and gone.
ATB,
Lars
We continue to make adjustments to the running of the forum and by whom.
We all make a valued contribution in our own small way.

Hi all,
Agree with all comments so far.
Was just thinking that there is an awful lot of good info on the LAF just sitting there. Its too bad there wasn't some way to possibly merge that data into this great forum.
Standing by for further,

An idea:
Perhaps could all the sections of the Forum be closed so they could at least be read without having the permission to post.
With also added a message to tell new members that if they register they won't be activated.
Regards.
