Information on these two photos, please .........

Post by K4KittyCrew »

Hi folks, just wanted to ask if anyone could provide some details on these two images.
As you can see, they are not your everyday type of image.
Thanks,
John

The top one is a Lancaster of the French Airforce/Navy, several Lancs were sold to France post war, in fact Just Jane at East Kirkby was one such. The lower picture is an He III with a balloon cable-cutting device attached. What a scary business that would have been flying that!

Heinkel 111 H-8, is the type in the picture.
There is no paralell in warfare, to such courage and determination in the face of danger, over so long a period. Such devotion, should never be forgotten.

Many thanks for the input gents.
I must say that I am at a complete loss as to how that Heinkel 111 H-8 could stay airborne.
You would think the airflow over the 'system' would throw everything out of whack.
Cheers,
John

One good thing about it was, apparently, it weighed so heavy that the bomb load had to be cut down quite a bit
