I send all my contacts on here a very merry Christmas.
My own will be a very quiet "Un-Christmas" for not only did I lose my father on 15th November, my wife also passed away on 15th December So in order not to taint Christmas forever, I am spending it with our two boys at the eldest's flat. There we will do ordinary things, play games, drink fine beer and not eat turkey. Presents will have to wait for next year.
Roll on 2014, it has to be better!!!
A subdued Christmas here.

Hi Guy,
I am sure no words will make the pain any easier.
I know that being with family does help ease the pain, but does not take it away all together.
All the best mate and 2014 will be better, you just have to believe!

Guy,
Sorry to hear about your sad losses
Things do get better, slowly, and as Steve and John said, family and friends do help.
All the best wishes for 2014, and as we say here in NZ, Kia Kaha. (Stay Strong)
Wayne.

Thank you for your very supportive comments. My wife's funeral is on Monday 30th so so at least we are not overlapping into 2014. It has been a very hard month. Roll on next year!

Re: A subdued Christmas here.
I can assure you Guy that things DO get better. I lost my wife tragically early to Motor Neurone disease in 2009, I remember so clearly my first Christmas without her. I was with friends but also alone. This year I've spent a marvellous Christmas with my "new" family (my partner's family) - 15 of us with ages ranging from one and a half to eighty four and a half! Hard times for you right now, and the hardest day of all yet to come, but stick with it.

Thoughts are with you and your boys today, Guy - amongst the grief I hope you are able to celebrate happier times and treasured memories.
