Left to right. S/Ldr Dave Shannon(survived the war) Richard Trevor-Roper who flew as rear gunner to Guy Gibson on the dams raid(Killed on Nuremburg raid 30/31 march 1944) Wing Commander George Holden(succeeded Gibson as CO 617 Sqd. Killed with most of Gibsons crew in September 1944.

The wreckage of Lancaster JA-914 from 57 Sqdn and coded DX-O shot down over Berlin in Sept 1943 and recovered from a lake in 1997. Now on display in a Berlin Museum
The aircraft was shot down at about half past midnight, from an altitude of 15,000 feet and some 25 miles from target. The kill was claimed by FW 190 nightfighter Stab JG300 pilot Uffz Fritz Brinkmann
