Plates to suit

Here in Oz, car number plates come in many forms of lettering and numbers but the stardard plates tend to have, 3 numbers with 3 letters.

I did a search and found that l could get my fathers squadron, even with the correct squadron colours of red & black.

Happy days!

That's great, John! What a wonderful way to publicly honor your father and the squadron. Just curious, but does it cost extra to request a 'specialized' plate in OZ as it does here in the USA (at least in California, but everything costs extra here!).

Cheers,

Mark

Thanks Mark, l appreciate your comments.
Yes, they do cost more.
Even though they are in the standard number & letter configuration, they still hit you for extra dollars because l requested the run of numbers & letters.
Standard plates start about $90, these were $475 with no further fees in the future.
This particular range all have black backgrounds so l just went for the red numbers & lettering, which fitted with the squadron colours.
Just lucky no one else had the configuration.

Well done, John. Welcome back. I've two sets of personalized plates "SP1T2" that was on a Mk2 Spitfire I had and "59MOG" on my 59 Morris Minor Ute. Should try for one for 467 Squadron for my MX5. Just checked and POS467 and POW467 are available.

Evening Kerry,
Nice to hear from you and hope you both are keeping well.

I've had a few onlookers make comment when l'm out & about in my travels.
Always proud to say that dad was aircrew.
