Re: The Stirling Aircraft Project Update
Thanks Richard
Unfortunately we'd always intended on getting the media involved once our current workshop refurb was finished. Us having to vacate has moved things along a bit; we have a couple of irons in the fire for new premises, 2 of which seem especially promising
It's always the way, just as we get up a head of steam and start making some real progress, something happens to slow us down again

Just a quick note to let you know that our website has had a long overdue makeover. Still a work in progress but hopefully it will now be kept up to date with easier software. I'll still keep updating the Forum here though

attached is a photo of a recent donation to the project of the 2nd pilots dv window surround including the catch. No history unfortunately but we will be able to incorporate some of the parts into the flightdeck.

Re: The Stirling Aircraft Project Update
apologie for not posting much progress of late, but we're in the processof preparing to move to new, larger accomodation; more of which at a later date. Consequently this has taken up a lot of our time so work has been limited. We're still looking out for the odd item for the cockpit and have recently purchased the items below. They're not much to look at but they're a vital piece of aircrew equipment, being oxygen shut-off valves. Each crew station had one and they shut the oxy supply off when the hose is stowed in the clip. We now have enough for each of the crew stations

Re: The Stirling Aircraft Project Update
Apologies for the lack of updates but we've been very busy of late having to pack up the Project in advance of a move to a new location. We finally accomplished the first stage of this move at the weekend, by moving into temporary accomodation next door to our intended new workshop. The final part of the move should take place in early July when the tenants of the other building move out. The pics below show the amount of stuff that the project has accumulated over the years, it looks like chaos at the moment (and it probably is) but we'll be going through the items to get a semblance of order and everything will then have it's place; more so now that we will have more room to spread out.

Re: The Stirling Aircraft Project Update
Greetings all, we are still here
We've not been up to much as we're getting ready to make our final move into the building next door; we've been waiting for the current tenants to vacate and it's just not been worthwhile unpacking everything just to pack it all back up again. However, we've been busy researching and sourcing original parts, hopefully more of which in due course. In the mean time, we've acquired an original part (Junction Box 7) of the Beam Approach system. There's still more items to locate for this system but we're steadily getting there.

Re: The Stirling Aircraft Project Update
A very quick update. We moved from our temporary building shown above into our hopefully permanent one last weekend, which was the hottest day in the UK so far this year. Fortunately we were assisted by a forklift which made light work of the heavy guillotine and metal folder plus all the heavy items such as u/c legs etc. We still have a lot of sorting out to do as everything will need a good clean before being put back onto our racking. However, we now have plenty of space and everything should now have it's own proper place which will make finding things again so much easier
More updates soon when we're sorted

Great stuff, John .................... sounds like we may need to ask if members can assist you and the team with the move?

Re: The Stirling Aircraft Project Update
Thanks John but a bit late as it's virtually done now. Hot enough to have lost a few pounds
With any luck we should be able to start making progress soon; once the summer holiday season is over, we'll be having our much delayed AGM wher we will be thrashing out the way ahead

Re: The Stirling Aircraft Project Update
The move into the new workshop has now been accomplished, just the cleaning and sorting out to do now
Still onwards and upwards.
Here's our latest acquisition; an R1124 receiver for the Standard Beam Approach System (LORENZ). This has come all the way from New Zealand (via Charles Darby) and was personally brought to us by Gp Capt Richardson RAAF, to whom we extend our grateful appreciation. This unassuming (but heavy) equipment is part of the early instrument landing system and is located just forward of the W/Op position and is linked via a cable to the junction box in the earlier post.
