The Stirling Aircraft Project Update
Re: The Stirling Aircraft Project
Great progress John and good to see the public interest - especially from the veterans.
Great work.

Re: The Stirling Aircraft Project
I agree Richard, the continual work and efforts done by people like forum member, John L. and alike, cannot be underestimated. The time and money associated, reverts to a life-time achievement. I think that says it all.

Re: The Stirling Aircraft Project
A quick update (no photos unfortunately). The P2 seat beams have been drilled and located on to the Fr4 and Fr5 transverse beams. God willing (well once the Chairman has got back from his annual Arneham commemorations) the 2nd pilot's control column can be mounted and the flight deck will definitely become a reality

Re: The Stirling Aircraft Project
Another small report of progress, the P2 control column has now been drilled to suit the floor beams and temporarily slaved into position. The transverse torque tube as also been slaved in so that both columns now operate in unison (fore and aft that is). Some minor work is required to adjust 2 of the new sprockets on the P2 side, then we can commence on connecting up the chains so that the control wheel will also operate together.

Re: The Stirling Aircraft Project
Hi all
Another update for you. We've slaved together the columns, floor beams, throttle box and instrument panel as accurately as we can get them at the moment. the throttle box is mounted 1/2" too high as we've still got to make some of the supporting structure for it, but that's one of the next items on the agenda. now that it's set off the floor, you can almost feel that you're the Nav peering over the pilot's shoulders.
cheers
John

There is no paralell in warfare, to such courage and determination in the face of danger, over so long a period. Such devotion, should never be forgotten.

Hi John,
Great photos of your progress.
Can I ask what is that massive handle to the right of the throttle box?
Cheers,
Wayne.
