Short Stirling Stripes?

Here is an interesting image of a Short Stirling.
Notice the vertical stripes over the fuselage rear side door.
They look too dark to be D-Day stripes, yet the number of troops in the photo may prove other wise ............... your thoughts?

Hi John,

Thanks for the photo!
I'm not at home to confirm this but if I'm not wrong this is a 38 Group Stirling rapatriating Pows.
Stripes remained on some of 38 Group Stirlings but I can't remember if it stood on all.
I'll have to verify!

I think you're looking at the remnants of D Day stripes. IIRC they were often very crudely applied with almost a distemper like paint, by 1945 I dare say a heavily used ac standing outside in all weather would see a lot of the paint weathered away
