The bloke I lift share with is a keen aviation archaeologist and used to work at Wyton when he was in the RAF. He got a good quality photo of that shot and managed to triangulated the position, within a few minutes of looking he turned up some bullets and metal fragments (this was in the late 90s)

This image is mine, from my father's collection of glass b&w negatives. It shows QS-H (BF-503) with part of the crew including my father, second from the right. Taken at Chedburgh in November 1943. Some kind person has had a go at colouring it and has re-shaped the trees at the airfield perimeter to look like buildings so it is not as accurate as the original.
A credit would be nice!

Here are a couple of photos from the Imperial War Museum. The 1st one of of a 149 Sqdn aircraft has been used quite a lot but I can only recall seeing the second, which is a 218 Sqdn Stirling,once before in the Stirling File
