An update to a previous post regarding my father's brief career on Stirlings
He departed Newmarket on January 23, 1943 on a mission to Lorient, near Morlaix the plane R9248 was hit by flak and he ordered the crew to bail out. Unfortunately no one else survived and are buried in Saint Thegonnec France. He managed to evade capture and contacted the French Resistance and worked his way through France to Spain with several Americans, and Nancy Wake. Their journey is well documented in several books/videos about Nancy as the Gestapo was hot on her heels. They reHere are some of the major points
With the passing of Nancy the final chapter has been written on this adventure RIP Nancy have a Gin and Tonic with dad and all the others you helped in WW2.

Re: Nancy Wake
Many thanks, MaggieMae,
Your fathers' and crews efforts are greatly appreciated, theirs along with Nancy Wake. If you have any further details or photos, we would certainly like to have them posted here on the Stirling Aircraft Society Forum.
Cheers,
John
