Stirling Undercarriage Animation - For Mary

Post by jamesinnewcastle »

Hi All

A while ago Mary put up a question regarding the apparent delay in the Stirling undercarriage moving. I've gotten to a point with my Stirling 3D Model where I can animate enough to give some sort of simulation. I think that the speed is about right.

The first video (you tube) shows a side view of the undercarriage retracting. The motor starts when the red light comes on, stops when it goes off. The model is not complete so please ignore all the missing bits.

The next shows EXACTLY THE SAME animation but from the Pilots seat looking down at the wheel, ignore the fact that the mechanism appears to be hanging out of the wing!

I'll let you decide if there is a delay, but the movement of the wheel initially is almost vertically upwards as its rearward travel is almost matched by the forward travel of the 'knee' joint.

Cheers
James
