Stirling r9299

Post by faubourg »

I was told by a colleague that he saw a Stirling on fire over Dullingham station in summer 1941 which crashed a few miles on. I have failed to find this one, but it occurs to me that perhaps he has the year wrong and it may just have been R9299 of 149 Sqdn on a training flight. That I have seen recorded as crashing in Swaffham Bulbeck, and my mate's location of the crash may well be in that particular parish.
Anyway I would appreciate any clues as to R9299. I shall seek the docs next time I go to Kew but perhaps an expert here may save me the time (and diesel)

Thanks in advance.

There is no paralell in warfare, to such courage and determination in the face of danger, over so long a period. Such devotion, should never be forgotten.
