Hi Folks,

Our good friends over at http://www.google.com.au/url?sa=t&sourc ... ZiajZdXgIg Alan Fraser and crew, have allowed me to post some photos from their site. This is a very good collection of photos, many come from Chris Seager, for who, along with Alan, we thank.

If anybody wishes to add any further photos or details, please do.
John

I see Tommy Knox is mentioned as the source of some of the info under a couple of those photos John - I met Tom at Canberra this year (current photo of him here). In fact I've just spoken to him on the phone and hope to go and visit him when I'm next in Sydney in a couple of weeks. There are not too many Stirling flight engineers in Australia these days, and Tom's a lovely bloke.

John,

From memory, this is one of a number of pictures taken of No.149 (East India) when attacking in daylight the VI sites early July / August 1944. I am sure Richard will be able to exspand on this.

Regards

Steve

Fit Lt Bob Chapell and his 149 Squadron crew were typical of Bomber Command's contribution to Special Duties operations in 1944, which they flew in addition to minelaying and bombing sorties. Great photos. A surprising number of 'O' for Observer brevet badgets given the dates seem to indicate that most of the photos were taken in 1944?
