Short Stirling N 6045 U Crash 8 september 1941 Holland

Post by Jean Kreunen » Wed Sep 13, 2017 5:56 pm

Hello,
I'm a militaria collector from Holland for over 40 years. As a boy of about 15 years old my grandfather gave me a picture of a part of a bomber in front of our house in the middle of the town. Later I started researching the history behind this picture and it is the fuselage of the Short Stirling N 6045 U flewn by Captain Wallace-Tarry and navigator Richard Pape. Pape wrote the book "Boldness be my friend" in 1951 and it tells his story about the crash in Hengelo Gld. Holland and several of his escape actions.
I'm very interested in any information about this Short Stirling and its crew.
