John,
Much appreciated......
Much appreciated......
There is no paralell in warfare, to such courage and determination in the face of danger, over so long a period. Such devotion, should never be forgotten.

Many fantastic photos here, very atmospheric. Has anyone searched the IWM photo library? I noticed the other day that the photo advertising the service on their website was a colour photo of a Stirling skipper in front of his aircraft. I presume 'there's more inside'...

Richard,
By typing in Short Stirling and choosing "photographs" from the list, there's 81 hits, not just of Stirlings, but also some of crew.

Whilst looking for details for 'Smudger' .......... I came across this link. Have posted the Stirling from 90 Squadron but the original can be found on the link, along with some other great photos.
You'll have to mind the attempted 'touch up'.

Oh gosh - I love these kind of photos - so exactly how it was - rather than the (understandably) posed MoD ones. Anyone any idea what the timber frame in front of the tree on the left might have been used for. It looks like it might be a "jig" or template?
