Hi,

We should add Mel ...and Bruno are searching a book tittled "the aircrew men of sterling lk276" by Dick chaplin & Merna Kidgell.
There's a long time that I also try to find the book of this 190 Squadron Stirling and its crew.
Here is a link about LK276 and its crew:

Little off-thread, Bruno, but I visited RAF Dunmow (about 15 minutes from Stansted Airport) as a "Garden". Didn't know at that time what was there. There is a huge catalogue of photographs of 190 and 620 sqdn aircraft, crew etc. A veritable gold mine. Also artifacts, bits of crashed Stirlings, wall art and a lot more to go with the beautiful Gardens and memorials - well worth a visit. I asked if I could catalogue and copy the photographs and put them on a site (at no charge, obviously) and was ignored .... twice! A crew member who had lived locally had a superb collection of photos; his name was Noel Chaffey. His family have the photographs. Seems to me a shame that all of this history is not available for those who would cherish it. The site is at http://www.parksandgardens.ac.uk/compon ... temid,292/ and hardly a mention of Aircraft!!

Again Alan, we, like you would certainly welcome any former air crew photos and details. If you or anyone can source them, we'll do our bit and collate them here on the site / forum.
People need to be able to appreciate what the Bomber Command crew members, ground and air, did for us and as you have mentioned, it would a great shame if these details and photos were lost, once and for all. All the best with your endeavours.

 I'll never understand that!

Unfortunately I've never been to RAF Dunmow. I'm not at home until next Saturday but I'll look in my files because Noel Chaffey is a name that I know. I'll look what I can find and as John said I'll try to help to source the photos.
Kind regards.

Hi again,

I've just written to Mary of the Stirling Aircraft Society to see if a member could help us.

Alan,
Do you know how to contact the family of Noel Chaffey? (in case I couldn't help).
I thank you in advance.
Kind regards.

I'm trying to find out more about this - rather belatedly.
The Gardens website implies public access to the outside area only and open about once a month.
Are the photographs in a private house on the site?
Is special permission required to see them?

Did anyone else ever find a copy of this book?

Cheers
