I am sure there was a mention of a 218 Squadron crash site on this tread, and I replied, was it removed ?? :!:

Agreed Steve, thought I'd seen something too. Can't say I've moved or deleted anything. Maybe the poster may have made an adjustment or likewise.

All,

Maybe someone can help my grandfathers bomber N6046 Stirling was brought down by flak over Recklinghausen.

Is it possible to trace what flak unit claimed the bomber on the 7/8th September 1941.

I have contacted Theo Boiten who confirmed that their is no night fighter claims for a Stirling that night in the area.

I believe there was a Flak battery of 88mm at a place on the outskirts of Recklinghausen at Stuckenbusch. Is there any records of flak unit claims?

Rene, (Karacho), thanks for making contact I will see you on 1st July !!

Regards

Ian

Hi John,

i have given a big box of Stirling-wreckparts to Ian by our meeting in Recklinghausen. These are wreckparts from the Stirling HA-U, lost 1943 near Vettelschoß / germany.
This box with stirling-parts will donate to the stirling-association, hope that parts can help....
Ian will contact you the next days.
I´m looking my other stirling-parts at home ( ca. 400 pieces / HA-U ) about parts from the cockpit-section..,then will contact you again.

best regards
Karacho
