Air Gunnery Schools in the North East?

Post by jjrc1991 »

Hi,

Can anyone tell me if there were any AGS's during WWII in the North East - primarily in the area of Durham/Sunderland?

I am researching a man who joined the RAFVR after 1939, trained as an AG and by December 1941, when he married, was based at RAF Wittering presumably with 151 Sqn. He married in the village of Easington Lane in the North East and his new wife's occupation (if she had one) was unrecorded on the marriage certificate - so I'm presuming she wasn't a WAAF. As he came from near Oxford I'm assuming the two must have met whilst he was in training somewhere up there?

Any help greatfully received.

Regards

Jeff

My father did his gunnery leaders course at Central Gunnery School at RAF Catfoss (Yorkshire).
