Re: RAF Training Bases
Sorry Dave forgot to note No 10 Bombing and Gunnery School. It was formed from No 10 Air Observers School, at RAF Warmwell in Dorset, on New Years Day 1940. As Bob mentions it then went to RAF Dumfries in July 1940, before being disbanded there on September 13th 1941 to once again become No 10 Air Observers School. No. 10 B&GS apparently flew the Fairey Battle and the obsolete Handley Page Harrow aircraft.
The airfield was known as Heathhall Airfield, and is still there, currently home to the Dumfries and Galloway Aviation Museum.
