Lancaster III JB470 F2M RAF 635 Squadron

Post by Bob Wilton »

Hello members,I am researching this Lancaster for a member of Sgt J.F.Coulsons family in Warrington.
I have already given them the aircraft and crew, and burial details.Does any member have the squadron
ORBS and Battle reports for the operations that this crew flew on? I am sure the family will be very
grateful for anything you have.

Best regards

Bob

Hi Bob .......... hope your keeping well.

I think I might have sent you a photo some time but would need to do some homework to confirm.
Cheers,
John

Yes,I think you sent me one of the Lancaster.A relation of Sgt Coulson lives in Warrington

This crew were on their 4th op with the squadron when lost.
22/3, Frankfurt.
26/3, Essen.
30/3, Nuremburg.
11/4, Aachen.
Although i have the ORB, the Appendices, which would normally hold the Battle Orders, are not available for this squadron.
Alan

Thank you Alan. The relation of Sgt Coulson the rear gunner lives in Warrington where I live. I will pass on the ORB's to her.

Regards Bob

The crew were posted from 97sqdn for the formation of 635sqdn in March 44, they were only with 97sqdn for a short period, being posted there from 50sqdn in Jan 44. Although i do not hold any 97sqdn ORB's, i run the forum for 50/61sqdn Association, and hold records for them, so can help with 50sqdn details as well. There is a Combat Report for Coulson with 50sqdn, available from N/A which can be downloaded from .... discovery.nationalarchives.gov.uk/details/r/D7455292

Thanks for the great work, Alan.
John

And the family of Sgt Coulson have asked me to thank you all for all the information
that you have posted.I have asked someone who lives in the town where six of the
crew are buried to photograph the six graves in their general cemetery.

Best regards to you all and thank you for what you have done.
