Anzac Day 2015 - Australia & New Zealand

Post by K4KittyCrew »

A marvelous turn out all over the country, as well as in New Zealand.

Ode of Remembrance

"They shall grow not old, as we that are left grow old:
Age shall not weary them, nor the years condemn.
At the going down of the sun and in the morning,
We will remember them."

I had the honour of marching with 467/463 Squadrons this morning in Brisbane. Unfortunately only one vet, Brian McGill, was able to attend. We represented the remaining vets who, for various reasons, were unable to attend. An enjoyable luncheon was then had where we remembered past and present members of the squadrons. While we continue to put in this effort, we will remember and honour them. Their sacrifice was not in vain.

Hi Kerry, good to hear from you. Glad you were able to attend which is more than I can say for oneself.
Hoping 'Kookabat' / Adam will post some images.

Cheers,
John

Coming!

I'm at work at the moment but earlier today I put a post together with a few photos from Anzac Day in Sydney on my blog. Have a look here: http://www.somethingverybig.com

Biggest Anzac Day in terms of crowd numbers in a while I reckon, and the 463-467 Squadrons Association actually had more veterans marching this year than in 2014.

For the first time in several years I didn't go to Waddington for the 467/463 squadron meeting and for a very good reason: during the first week of June Lindsay and I are going to visit the Reichswald War Cemetery to pay our respects on a "personal" level, leaving commemorative crosses on the graves of the crews from the squadrons lost on 3 March 45. We're going on the bike so making a week's holiday of it and catching up with one or two old friends. If time allows we may ride to Ladbergen and the crash site at Pentrup. I'll post some pictures when we get back.
