Elementary Flying Training Syllabus

Post by PeteT »

I am sure I recall that a while ago there was discussion on the content of the Elementary Flying Training Syllabus, but I can't find the thread .... so I will have to start from scratch.

Could anyone let me know which exercises were undertaken during (a) the elementary stage of pilot training and (b) the advanced stage and whether they remained the same throughout the war.

Any help would be much appreciated as I seem to have lost all my notes on this subject.

Regards

Pete

Pete, I'll post some extracts from my father's logbook as soon as possible, it should answer your queries for both EFTS and SFTS. As far as I know the system that evolved not only remained in place for the rest of the war but is still the backbone of the syllabus today.

What level of detail are you after? I have a 14 page description of the SFTS course plus a copy of the Instructors Manual of Advanced Flying, basically SFTS from the instructors point of view. If of use I can put them on DVD.

Max

I am now keen to progress to the SFTS stage of training and wondered if it would be possible to post the SFTS schedule / log book to complement the one you posted for EFTS. Is this practical in the short term?

Richard

Are you able to send me the information that you mentioned in your last post?

Your help is much appreciated as always
