Hello,

This is a message sent through the forum by Douglas Fisher:

I have my Uncles log book and Medals along with a photo album that records
his time in Bomber Command from his intake into the RAF through to his
death. A most moving and cherished possession.

I have had some success with tracing his last flight details over Berlin
but would be grateful for any further information that can be given
regarding the crew and circumstances concerning loss of his aircraft and
the recovery of his remains.

Thank You.

Doug.

Stirling EE879, OJ-G took off from Lakenheath 20.35 for ops to Berlin. Records show it crashing at Sputendorf, NNW of Ludwigsfelde with the loss of all the crew. Chorley states that the crew were laid to rest here, before being later transferred to the Berlin War Cemetery. The Berlin op looks to be the 19th op for this crew, after being posted in from 1651 CU on 26th May 43, but you can confirm this through his logbook.
